Step into ballet

Authentic classical ballet training for adults in a welcoming, supportive, and serious environment.

Whether you are stepping into a ballet studio for the first time, returning after years away, or looking for a place to continue your training, AdultCorps offers a place to learn, work, grow, and reconnect with ballet.

Ballet is for adults, too.

AdultCorps is the adult ballet community at BalletCorps, created for new, returning, and experienced dancers alike.

Classes follow the structure and traditions of classical ballet training while allowing instruction to meet the needs of the adults actually in the class. Combinations can be explained, questions are welcome, and meaningful corrections are an important part of the experience.

You do not need extraordinary flexibility, a particular body type, or years of previous training to belong here.

You simply need the desire to move, learn, and play!

Adult Ballet Fundamentals

Never danced before? Start here.

A monthly introductory ballet class for adults with little or no prior experience.

Basic vocabulary • Class structure • Barre & center • Confidence

Register

Who It’s For

Adults with little or no previous ballet experience. There is no expectation that you already know what you’re doing — that is exactly what this class is for.

What You’ll Learn

Basic ballet vocabulary, positions, barre work, how combinations are taught, class structure, and what to expect as class moves from barre into the center.

When It Meets

A 90-minute introductory class offered near the end of each month, with select evening and weekend sessions. The class is paced specifically for beginners, with time to explain things as we go.

What to Wear

No ballet shoes or dancewear are required for Fundamentals. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, and socks if you do not yet own ballet shoes.

If you continue into Adult Ballet, we’ll help you with the simple dancewear and footwear needed for regular classes.

Tuition

$30 per Fundamentals session. Continue into Adult Ballet the following month and your $30 Fundamentals fee will be applied toward your first month of tuition.

Adult Ballet

Know the basics? Keep growing.

Traditional training for adults with basic familiarity with ballet vocabulary and class structure.

Technique • Musicality • Coordination • Progress

Register

Who It’s For

Adults with basic familiarity with ballet vocabulary and class structure, including dancers moving on from Adult Ballet Fundamentals and those returning to ballet after time away.

This remains a slower-paced class, with room to work thoughtfully and build confidence as technique develops.

What You’ll Work On

Traditional ballet technique through barre and center work, with continued attention to vocabulary, alignment, coordination, musicality, and progressively more involved combinations.

The emphasis is on learning well, rather than simply moving quickly.

When It Meets

Adult Ballet is offered Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Dancers may attend once or twice per week depending on their schedule and goals.

What to Wear

Ballet shoes are encouraged, but there is no required BalletCorps adult uniform. Dancers may find it helpful to have longer hair neatly secured and to wear clothing that allows alignment to be seen, but neither is required.

Wear what makes you comfortable. Leggings, athletic wear, T-shirts, leotards, skirts, and favorite warm-ups are all welcome. Have fun with it if you’d like, or keep it simple.

Tuition

Drop-in classes are $30. Monthly tuition is $100 for one class per week or $175 for two classes per week.

Advanced Adult Ballet

Experienced dancer? Come take class.

Traditional technique training for adults with significant previous ballet experience.

Technique • Artistry • Musicality • Precision

Register

Who It’s For

Adults with significant previous ballet training who are comfortable with traditional class structure, established ballet vocabulary, and a faster pace.

This class is well suited to experienced adult dancers, former professionals, serious returning dancers, and others with a strong technical foundation.

What You’ll Work On

A full traditional ballet class with more complex barre and center combinations, greater technical detail, musicality, coordination, artistry, and stamina.

Combinations move more quickly than in Adult Ballet, with less time needed for explanation of basic vocabulary and class structure.

When It Meets

Advanced Adult Ballet is offered Thursday mornings and Saturdays from 10:00–11:30 AM.

Advanced dancers are also welcome to attend the Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening Adult Ballet classes for additional training.

What to Wear

Experienced dancers will generally already know what works best for them in class. Because Advanced Adult Ballet includes more complex turning and jumping combinations, securely tied-back hair is recommended.

As with every AdultCorps class, dancers are always welcome to augment or omit as they see fit. Wear what allows you to dance comfortably, safely, and enjoyably.

Tuition

Drop-in classes are $30. Monthly tuition is based on training frequency: $100 for one class per week, $175 for two, $225 for three, or $250 for four classes per week.

Take class at your own pace.

AdultCorps offers legit classical ballet training, but you are always in control of how you participate.

You are encouraged to challenge yourself, but you are never expected to perform every step, every combination, full-out. Modify something. Leave out a turn. Mark a jump. Take a break. Try more when you’re ready.

You retain agency in this room. Listen to your body, work at the level that is right for you that day, and make the class your own.

As we often say in AdultCorps:

Augment, omit as you see fit!

Returning to Ballet? +

Coming back to ballet can feel surprisingly emotional. You may remember how much you loved it — and also remember the pressure, self-consciousness, comparison, or expectations that sometimes came with being in class.

AdultCorps is a place to return to ballet on your terms.

The training is authentic and traditional, but the purpose is not to prove anything — except, perhaps, something to yourself. It is to nourish your spirit, challenge your body and mind, and satisfy that part of you that still wants to dance.

You can work seriously, take corrections, build technique, and grow while still taking class at your own pace and making the experience your own.

Whether you are returning after five years or thirty, these classes are for you.

AdultCorps Community +

AdultCorps is about more than simply having adult classes on the schedule. It is about creating a place where adults who love ballet can feel that they genuinely belong.

Some dancers are taking their very first steps. Some are returning after years or decades away. Others have been dancing most of their lives and simply never wanted to stop. Different ages, backgrounds, abilities, and goals can all share the same studio.

What brings everyone together is pretty simple: we like ballet, and we want to dance.

Come to class, work hard, laugh when something goes completely sideways, celebrate when something finally clicks, and enjoy being around other people who understand why spending an evening doing tendus and pirouettes sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

No judgment. No pressure. Just ballet.

You can come once a week because class is the hour you look forward to all week. You can train several times a week because you love the work. You can set goals, make progress, challenge yourself, or simply enjoy moving to music in a beautiful studio.

There is room for all of that here.

AdultCorps is a place to take ballet, certainly — but my hope is that it also becomes a place you look forward to coming back to.

Step into class, into barre, into music, into center, into your body — step into ballet.

AdultCorps Tuition

AdultCorps monthly tuition works as a month-to-month training membership rather than a per-class package.

Choose the training frequency that fits your schedule, goals, and life. Monthly AdultCorps members are not required to attend the exact same class every week. When multiple appropriate classes are available, you may flex between them as your schedule changes.

Monthly tuition reserves access at your chosen weekly frequency rather than purchasing a specific number of individual classes. Missed classes are not credited or carried forward, but membership can be adjusted from month to month as life and schedules change.

Prefer complete flexibility with no monthly commitment? Drop-in classes are always $30.

Drop-In — $30 per class
1 Class / Week — $100 per month
2 Classes / Week — $175 per month
3 Classes / Week — $225 per month
4 Classes / Week — $250 per month

Higher-frequency options are available to dancers whose class level and schedule provide access to additional AdultCorps classes.
